| Sankhu
Snakhu is the once important post of the trading rute Between Kahtmandu and Lhasa (tibet).and although the town's flower has faded somewhat, you can still see many signs of its former prosperity. The town was first settled in the Licchavi era and there are many homes decorated with old woodcarvings. Although many traditional aspects of Newari life continue here, the most persasive reason to visit is the beautiful Vajra Jogini tempale comple x,an easy 45 mitue walk or bicycle ride about 2km northeast of town. |

At the norheastern part of the Valley around 15Km from Kathmandu, the streams that eventually join the Bagmati River flow over the waterfalls at Sundarijal into a century-old reservoir. This place is also the sterting point for the popular trek to Helambu .The main reservoir that supplies drinking water to the Valley is about a two hour walk uphill from here.A smaller trail forks off before the reservoir to a small rock cave, where a 13th-century image of mahadevi can be found. |
